Duane “Dog” Chapman, known as Dog the Bounty Hunter, and his wife, Francie Frane, are grieving the loss of their 13-year-old step-grandson, Anthony Zecca, who was accidentally shot and killed by his father, Gregory Zecca, on July 19, 2025, in Naples, Florida.

The incident, described as an “incomprehensible tragic accident,” occurred at an apartment on Sumter Grove Way around 8 p.m., according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

No arrests have been made, and the shooting is considered an “isolated incident” under ongoing investigation.Gregory Zecca, Francie’s 38-year-old son from a previous marriage, reportedly fired the fatal shot in a freak accident. Dog and Francie issued a statement to TMZ: ”

We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony.”Zecca, a member of Chapman’s bounty hunting team and a known gun enthusiast, was reportedly distraught at the scene.

The tragedy has sparked discussions about gun safety, given Zecca’s history of sharing photos of Anthony practicing at a shooting range in 2021.Chapman, 72, gained fame through Dog the Bounty Hunter (2004–2012), followed by Dog and Beth: On the Hunt and Dog’s Most Wanted.

After losing his wife Beth to cancer in 2019, he married Frane in 2021, bonding over shared grief.The couple recently relocated from Florida to Atlanta, continuing their bounty hunting and ministry work.

The loss of Anthony, who spent summers with his grandparents and enjoyed dancing and Comic Con, has left the Chapman family and fans in mourning.
